Room in a Box

Thanks to stores like Bouclair and IKEA, it’s easy to put a room together quickly for staging. It’s almost like buying a room in a box. When you have a completely blank canvas, you can choose a colour pallet and all the accessories are right there for you.  Symmetry and balance are important in staging since you don’t want anything distracting in the photos.  You don’t want buyers looking at your ‘stuff’.  You want them looking at the space.  You want to include just enough furnishings to give the scale of the room and enough colour to keep it memorable as buyers are rapidly searching through the MLS photos. This room would have looked very boring without the long bold drapes and coordinating throw blanket at the end of the bed.  Adding the guitar is just enough of a personal touch.  A house with music always feels good and happy.

Once all the personal items of this teenage girl were removed, buyers can easily visualize themselves living in this space.

The homeowners didn’t have a dresser, but this sofa table works great as a desk or ‘dressing table’ and it’s the same scale as a dresser to help buyers. Adding the little hits of colour in accent cushions give the room interest.
